Greg and Subrina Collier began The Yolk Cafe in Rock Hill in 2012, bringing their Memphis roots to a restaurant built around scratch cooking. Uptown Yolk continues that idea in Charlotte. Its art deco interior adds another layer to the couple's Memphis-inspired approach, giving the dining room a visual identity alongside the food.
Mojo Hash uses coffee-braised steak, sweet potatoes and roasted mushrooms beneath an over-easy egg and scallion pesto. The There's Fire dish pairs sweet-potato biscuits with smoked-chicken gravy and jalapeño jam. For a sweeter plate, the Miller Stack combines brown butter and buttermilk in three pancakes with whipped butter.
Roasted sweet-potato and dulce de leche lattes sit beside the usual espresso drinks. The bar also offers a Sorrel Spritz with Aperol and prosecco. Most breakfast plates fall in a moderate price range, while the simpler egg-and-cheese Yolkwich provides a less expensive option on a house-made cornmeal brioche roll with red-pepper jam.
