Opened in 2012, Heist began with small batches inspired by Belgian and German brewing traditions. Its portfolio later expanded into hazy IPAs, pilsners, fruited sours and stouts. The NoDa restaurant underwent a substantial rebuild after a 2024 kitchen fire, with reopening plans reported in May 2026 and a refreshed food menu now posted.
Beer cheese uses the brewery’s High Fives beer with smoked Gouda, aged white cheddar, mozzarella and cream cheese, served with pretzel rods. Chicken Waffle Tacos pair fried chicken with a Belgian waffle, honey butter, jalapeño bacon and berry compote. Cast-iron feta dip combines lemon, oregano, blistered tomatoes and spiced pistachios.
The current kitchen menu is moderately priced, with wood-fired whole wings, fish and chips, and steak frites among the larger orders. A strawberry salad brings goat cheese, walnuts and basil into the selection. Check the NoDa menu when choosing a location: the separate Barrel Arts address features Livy’s Neapolitan Pizzeria and has its own food offering.
